Greetings from the PEERS Board and the Lansing Juneteenth Celebration Committee. We have great plans and look forward to the annual Lansing Juneteenth Celebration and recognition of  "Juneteenth Day" as a state of Michigan holiday. Since 1993, the Lansing Juneteenth Celebration has served as a respected voice in the community; with the city of Lansing as its backdrop. In 2015, the African American Parade, founded by the late Rev. Dr. Michael C. Murphy (who was a former Lansing Legislator, City Council Member and community advocate) became part of the Juneteenth Celebration weekend.

We are excitedly preparing for the 2024 Juneteenth Celebration, which will take place beginning on Saturday, June 8 with  our commemorative Tribute to the Negro League ballgame, and continuing Thursday, June 13 – Saturday, June 15 with a special Kick-off ceremony featuring the student Essay/Scholarship Contest Awards, the African-American Parade and the Juneteenth Freedom Festival. We are celebrating 31 years of this event in Lansing!

The sponsorship commitment deadline is April 30, 2024.

Lansing’s Juneteenth Celebration will also provide participants with some of our most respected artists, celebrities, and businesses. Additionally, local and state government members and community leaders will be participating in the celebration. Musical entertainment, business exposure, educational presentations, kid's activities, a shopper's one-stop destination, cultural arts exhibits, health fair and more - we've got it all.
